The underground wonders of Vietnam

1. Son Doong - The world's largest cave

Hang Son Doong in the national park Phong Nha - Ke Bang is an enormous cave was formed from about 2 to 5 million years ago. From ancient times, the river flows through limestone in a long time has caused erosion and form a large tunnel in the ground. In areas where soft stone, the ceiling collapses forming holes, gradually forming the spectacular dome caverns.


Hang Son Doong is estimated to 150 m wide, 200 m high ceiling and at least 5 km. The expedition could not even measure the depth of the cave is exactly, but people say this place can accommodate a building of the city of Manhattan. 2. Sung Sot Cave at Halong Bay

Ha Long Bay became world famous by the system spectacular limestone caves , however, with the center of the World Heritage Site, the cave is the most extensive and beautiful cave here. Mouth cave 25 meters above sea level and is obscured by the luxuriant foliage. Jump feet first into the cave, visitors are often overwhelmed as standing in a huge theater with an area of ​​12,200 m2.


The cave divided into two compartments, lots of stalactites and stalagmites lit by fluorescent rainbow colors. Ceiling height up to 30 m and is filled with natural light beam. 3. Cu Chi Tunnels



The first feeling when visitors come to this place is dimly lit space and lack of air. Not only is an underground tunnel that Cu is also a historical place, a refuge for thousands of Vietnam for years lived during the war against the U.S.. The tunnel system was built in the 1940s and extended 250 km in the ground until the Cambodian border.   Hang divided into two compartments, lots of stalactites and stalagmites lit by fluorescent rainbow colors. 4. Vinh Moc Tunnels - Quang Tri 



The tunnel system is about 2 km, not only a fraction of the Cu Chi tunnels, but also a monument bearing the beauty and history of human strength. When Vinh Moc area besieged by attacks from American troops, people have created an underground house for shelter. This tunnel is a place to get supplies of food and weapons to Con Co Island - an important place in the war against America. People took 18 months to dig the tunnel finished 3 floors, the lowest depth of about 23 m. According to records, 17 babies were born in the tunnels history.

5. Monuments Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in the ground 


The architectural monuments have been excavated foundation, plinth, walls, and tiled road with drainage systems, water wells, a shower... Many artifacts such as brick, ceramic, tile, stone plinth, jewelry, and even animal bones and shells large paved courtyard use. The relic relic proves the ancient capital of Thang Long is still preserved in the ground so far.

6. Shelter in Hotel Metropole 

In May when construction 8.2011 Bamboo Bar, construction team discovered the bunker has been long forgotten in the heart of the Metropole Hotel. The shelter measures 40 m2 consists of 5 rooms and two corridors, is still preserved intact. An authentic information that the American singer Joan Baez performed at the recent history when the attack took place in 1972.

 
In addition to shelter, the Metropole hotel also arranged the exhibition of 110 years of history along the hotel corridor 18 m, including 13 boards to record images of the hotel to recover from the early days of opening.
